Welp Wednesdays: A Kennedy's Big Loss
In Massachusetts, Rep. Joe Kennedy III lost the Democratic primary Senate race to incumbent Ed Markey. Although Ed is 74, he was seen as a more liberal candidate, having been endorsed by fellow progressives, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) and Elizabeth Warren. Joe was endorsed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
Joe's defeat marks the first time a Kennedy has lost an election in the state. Donald Trump is now using this fact as additional proof that the "radical left" has taken over the Democratic Party.

Reactions to Ed's win appear to be split on social media. While some are happy with the primary results, others see Ed's win has a misstep for the party. Although Ed is viewed as a progressive, folks argue that he hasn't "done much" throughout his political career.

Looking to the future, Joe Kennedy (39) has plenty of time to run again. He's been a rising star within the Democratic party and perhaps just needs to create a more convincing argument around his next campaign. After all, it's not "cool" to be a part of the establishment (i.e. a Kennedy dynasty) right now.
