The Monday Mood: Our Fortune

In Western civilization, many people associate black cats with bad luck and evil spirits. However, black cats can also have positive associations. Depending on who you ask, they can be seen as bringers of prosperity and fortune.

Right now, our team is in need of a little fortune. In trying to satisfy the feedback from our game testers, our team created new rules for Catty Liberal that ended up making the game worse... Go us! haha

We went from short, simple gameplay to the neverending story....That's right. By changing a few of the action cards and eliminating some of the filler cards, we created a multi-player card game that took longer than an hour to finish...Actually, we didn't even finish playing the new version of the game ourselves because we got bored. Yikes. 

So, it's back to the testing board for us...

It's funny because last month we consulted a game designer. He quickly reviewed our game and gave us some suggestions to try and support our game's premise. When we asked him how long games usually take to create, he simply laughed and said, "It depends." Some folks strike it hot their first time around and can go straight into game production. Other folks, like us, have to rework their game numerous times until they finally get it right. 

Therefore, over the next few weeks, we'll be continuing to test new rules and new cards until we find the right balance. We'll continue to give updates here and on our Instagram. Hopefully, we'll get something out there soon for round 2 of game testing.
